What is a "gap" in NDIS funding?
The NDIS Price Guide sets a maximum hourly rate for each support type. Registered providers can charge up to this rate — but they can also charge less. Some providers charge at the exact NDIS rate (no gap), while others charge more (creating an out-of-pocket gap).
Example: If the NDIS rate for personal care is $67.56/hr but your provider charges $75/hr, the gap is $7.44/hr. At 5 hours per week, that's $37.20/week or $1,934/year you'd need to fund yourself.
If a provider charges above the NDIS price guide, they must disclose this clearly before you sign a service agreement. You have the right to ask for a written quote and compare providers.
